Robert Lee Beecher, 61, of Newville, died suddenly on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 11, 1947, in Carlisle, and was a son of the late Earl and Jeannette (Wyrick) Beecher.
Bobby was a 1965 graduate of Big Spring High School, Newville, and served in both the U.S. Army Reserve and the active U.S. Army from 1967-1972. Bob was employed by PPG Industries in Carlisle for nearly 40 years, and was currently working in Shipping and Receiving. He also enjoyed driving his golf cart around his land on the South Mountain, cutting firewood and watching the wild game in the great outdoors. Bob was a member of the the Mt. Holly Springs V.F.W.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Roberta (Stine) Beecher; his three daughters, Taunya (and her husband, Robert) George of Gardners, Sherry (and her husband, Allan) Miller of Carlisle and Cheryl (and her husband, Zach) White of Farmington, Mo.; a brother, Dave Beecher of Shippensburg; three sisters, Sally Kann of Newville, Joanne Oboczky of Reading and Donna Nye of Chambersburg; five grandsons, Benjamin and Kyle Miller, Eric Motter and Alec and Josh Failor; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Antoinette Carlin officiating. Burial will be held in Newville Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
