Deacon Reginald James Haynes departed from his earthly home on February 3, 2015. He was born on May 25, 1937 in Kansas City, Kansas to Charles Haynes and Jeanette Green Haynes. He was the fifth born of nine children. His parents, three siblings and one Son preceded him in death.
James was a graduate of Sumner High School in Kansas City, Kansas. After High School, he enlisted into the United States Air Force. Also, he was a dedicated worker at General Motors for 25 years. Lovingly, in 1964 Reginald united in marriage to Gertie M. Coleman McDonald and to that union one child was born, Dennis J. Haynes. This union proved to be a blessing that united a family of six.
James was an active and faithful member of Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Treasurer of the Hospitality Committee. To know Reginald (Jim) Haynes was to love him. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Brother and Son. Deacon Haynes will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Deacon James Haynes leaves to cherish his loving memories to his devoted wife, Gertie M. Haynes of 50 plus years. Sons; John Mitchell (Mary), Minnesota, Dennis J. Haynes, Kansas City, Mo., Derrick T. McDonald (Donna), Lynwood, Ill., Gil C. McDonald (Brigette) Douglasville, GA., David W. McDonald (Vaneita) Kansas City, Mo. Daughters; Yvonne C. Alexander, Kansas City, Mo., and Carmen T. Miller of Kansas City, Mo. Brothers; Herbert Haynes (Frankie) San Bruno, California, Michael Haynes (Clairesse) Kansas City, Mo. Sisters; Virginia Hill, Kansas City, Mo., Linda Haynes, Oakland, California, Alice Thomas (Ralph), Washington, D.C. and a host of Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Sister-in-Laws, Brothers-in-Laws and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Deacon Haynes will be held Saturday, February 14, at 11:00 a.m. Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church, 2853 Cleveland Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the church. Burial 9:00 am Monday, Feb. 16, Leavenworth, National Cemetery.
