Celebration of life for Marion Junior Butler, 82, was held Thursday at Tuscumbia Baptist Church with Bro. Rodney Whittemore and Bro. Tony Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Hope Cemetery.


Mr. Butler died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born March 30, 1932, in McNairy County, Tenn., to the late Hubert and Mollie Butler. He was a member of Butler Chapel Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, serving
as a seargent. He retired from Tyrone-Dana Corp. after more than 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, farming and reading the Bible.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Vester Butler and James “Pete” Butler; and a sister, Joyce B. Holmes.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Barbara Ann Dixon Butler of Corinth; a daughter, Michelle (Rory) Carpenter of Moulton, Ala.; grandchildren Regan and Cameron Carpenter; a sister, Mildred B. Warren of Bartlett, Tenn.; and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers are Kevin Settlemires, Richard Warren, Keith Butler, Raymond Butler, Phil Butler, Larry Butler, Tim Bradley, Ragen Carpenter and Cameron Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers are Vernon Wooten, Bobby Settlemires and Wendell Dixon.
