8-10-1893: Thomas L. Allen, an old and highly respected citizen of this place, died on July 29, aged 79 years, his funeral taking place at 3 o’clock on Sunday afternoon following. Mr. Allen first came to Clarion in the year 1844 and had remained the greater part of the time from that date to the time of his death, a citizen of the town. He followed farming for a living, having owned the place now occupied by Geo. Mack, south of town. He was a quiet unobtrusive gentleman and was respected by everybody. Five children survive him – Isaac H., manager of Sloan’s grocery; Mrs.Lizzie Sampsell of Clarion township; Mrs. Sarah Smith of Lucinda; Mrs. Carrie Gourley of Monroe township and Thomas L. of Wellsville, Ohio. Mrs. Allen, his wife preceded him to the grave in 1871.
