Ralph Taylor Cannon passed away on January 23, 2015. He lived a long and loving life at ninety-nine ¾ years old.

He was born April 22, 1915 to Tracy Y. and Lettie Taylor Cannon.

He attended LDS High School and South High, where he met his sweetheart, Ruth Brain. Their romance blossomed when they worked together at the A & W Root Beer stand. After locking up at night, Ralph would drive Ruth home on the handlebars of his bicycle. Following an LDS mission to Germany, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on January 5, 1939.

Ralph served in the intelligence division of the Army as an interrogator during WWII because of his excellent German language skills.

After the war, he attended the University of Utah and eventually worked for Mountain States Bindery as their sales manager.

Ralph and Ruth had four wonderful children, Grant (Susan), Kathleen (Steve) Crump, Stuart (Elaine), and Jean (Robert) Hill. Ruth passed away in 2003. Ralph diligently cared for her during her ten-year battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

He had a firm testimony of the Savior and served in many callings in the LDS Church, including Bishop, Teacher, High Councilor, and Temple Worker.

He and Ruth also served a mission to Malaysia and made many cherished friendships.

Ralph will be fondly remembered for his warm personality and the many people he has helped and befriended.

Ralph is survived by his four children; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Francis Lee Hart and Rose Ann Gerstner; a brother, Emerson (Colleen); and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Cannon. He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, Taylor and Melvin (Anne); and a sister, Judith (Woodrow) Marriott.

Special thanks to the many caregivers and friends at Wentworth Assisted Living.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holladay Stake Center, 4568 Holladay Boulevard. Family and friends may call prior to the services from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
