George Turner lived in Henrico County and City of Richmond. He had a Brickyard near 23rd and Cary, and built two brick homes in the midst of the Civil War that still stand in the City of Richmond. He owned a farm in Varina, and was elected Overseer of the Poor for Henrico County in his later years. His farm was brought into infamy "Drinker's Farm Murder" with the murder of a young woman who's body was found on the edge of his farm. The murderer, James Jeter Phillips, turned out to be a younger brother of his son-in-law.
