Dr. W. P. Winters, 84, former mayor of Mt. Pleasant, died in Price Sunday of causes incident to age.
Dr. Winters was born April 24, 1868, in E. T. City, Tooele County. The town no longer exists. It was named after Ezra Taft Benson, early-day apostle in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who helped colonize Tooele County. His parents were Dr. Hyrum A. and Elizabeth Williams Winters. Dr. Winters was graduated from Brigham Young University in 1890 and taught for a year at Snow College, Ephraim. He received his M. D. from the University of Maryland and seven years later returned from a year of study at John Hopkins University, Baltimore.
He married Jennie Cummings of Kanosh, Oct. 6, 1895. The couple resided in Mt. Pleasant where they operated a hospital. She died Nov. 13, 1946. On July 16, 1947 he married Mary Wilcox Farmer of Salt Lake City.
