Phil Harris, 68, a 43- year resident of Pocatello, died Wednesday evening at Bannock Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born April 20, 1918 in Green Timber, the third of nine children, to Oral McGee and Nora Alldredge Harris. He attended schools in Marysville, Prettwend, and Driggs, and later attended Ricks College one year.
He married Frances Nell Huff September 5, 1942 in Pocatello. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 24, 1959.
He served with the U.S. Armed Forces in Europe from 1942 until 1946. His family moved from Driggs to Pocatello in 1943. He was employed as a farm equipment salesman with Lely Pacific Farm Equipment.
He was a member of the LDS Church and had served in various capacities including athletic programs, bishop's counselor, and high priest group leader.
His interest included the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed golf in his later years.
Survivors include his wife of Pocatello; one son, Dennis Phil Harris, Simi Valley, California; three sisters, LeRue Pennell, Scottsdale, Arizona; Twila Rogers, Mesa, Arizona, Areta Merket, Cypress, California; one brother, Don Harris, Littleton, Colorado; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the LDS 10th Ward Chapel on Gwen Drive with Bishop J. Laren Noble officiating. Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery with military graveside rites.
