Dawn Michele Campbell, 48, of Plano, Texas died Saturday, February 1, 2014 after a yearlong battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Born June 6, 1965 in San Antonio, Texas, she was the daughter of Wanda Charlene (Talbert) Garlitz and James Gary Garlitz.

Michele was a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitation Services. In this position, Michele was responsible for guiding and supporting individuals with disabilities in the transition from high school to adult vocational rehabilitation services, and/or independent living and/or comprehensive rehabilitation services focused on employment or other defined outcomes. Michele was a member of The Catholic Community of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton in Plano, Texas. She graduated from Clark High School, Las Vegas, Nevada in 1983, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988 after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, and completed a Master's degree in Counseling at the University of North Texas. Michele loved animals and was active in bird rescue. She nursed many injured sparrows and finches back to health in her home and then ensured they returned to their natural environment so their songs and beauty could be shared by all.

Michele is survived by her daughter Kelsey, 16, Plano, Texas; her parents, Southlake, Texas; her sister and husband Kristine and David Izquierdo and nephew Layne, Prosper, Texas; her brother and wife David and Dawn Garlitz and nephews Mitchel and Mathew, Trophy Club, Texas.

Friends will be received at the Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas 75225, on Friday, 7 February 2014 from 5-8 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, 8 February 2014 at 1 p.m. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 West Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023.

Interment will be in the Sparkman/Hillcrest Cemetery, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas, 75225, following the funeral service.
An option to flowers is a donation to Kelsey's college fund. This donation can be made to W. Charlene Garlitz with a memo notation on the check "For Kelsey Campbell College Fund".
