Warrensburg/Glens Falls:

Sarah E. Combs, 87, formerly of River Street, Warrensburg, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Westmount Health Facility in Queensbury, where she has been a resident since 2011.

Born October 12, 1927 in Warrensburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry Hugh and Margaret (Stone) Combs.

Sarah was a long time resident of Warrensburg, where she graduated from Warrensburg Central School in 1946, she then went on to complete her studies at Mildred Elley Secretarial School.

In 1947 she accepted a job with the Warren County Department of Social Services in the accounting department, where she was a dedicated employee, retiring after 46 years.

Sarah moved to Queensbury in 1998, shortly thereafter relocating to Glens Falls in 2000.

Throughout the years, she was active in the Jane McCray Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution, New England Women, Norteast Genealogy Association, and the Warren County, Warrensburg, and Thurman Historical Societies.

Sarah enjoyed quilting, rug braiding, and knitting, and spent much of her time sorting records for Warren County. She was a member of the Church of The Holy Cross in Warrensburg.

In addition to her parents, Sarah was predeceased by a brother, Hugh, two nephews, Ronald Charles and Jeffrey Gerald Combs, and a great-niece, Christie Erin Ferrel.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Angeline "Jean"; her cousin and caregiver, Alice, as well as several additional cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Thursday, February 12, 2015 at The Church of The Holy Cross, Main St., Warrensburg with Fr. Thomas Pettigrew presiding.

There are no calling hours scheduled.

Burial will take place at a time to be announced in the spring in Warrensburg Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Sarah's memory to the Church of The Holy Cross, 3764 Main St., Warrensburg, NY 12885.
