Mary C. Curto of 310 Stafford St., a 23-year deliverywoman for the former American Optical Co. here, died Sunday in Mercy Hospital. She retired in 1973. During World War II, she was a special mechanic at the Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee Falls. Born in Springfield, she lived here all her life, and was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She leaves several nieces and nephews, including Margaret Duseault of Chicopee and Theresa Abert of Houston, Texas. She was predeceased by her brother, Louis Curto, also known as Billy Curtis, of Hollywood, Calif. He was an actor, and his best-known role was the mayor of Munchkinland in the 1939 musical classic, "The Wizard of Oz." A memorial Mass will be conducted Friday morning at the church, and burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours, and Tazzini Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may go to the American Heart Association, 1111 Elm St., Suite 9a, West Springfield, 01089.

In 1920, Mary lived with her parents, brothers, Frank, Louis and Antonio Curto at 87 Margaret St., Springfield, Hampden Co., MA.
Mary's parents immigrated to USA from Italy.
