She was the daughter of Charles Anderson and Elizabeth Anderson. Charles owned thousands of acres of land in the area which became Prince Edward County in 1754.

In the November 7, 1754 issue of the Virginia Gazette, he announced the sale of four thousand acres which he owned at Worsham crossroads. Worsham became the site of the county's first courthouse, which was built adjacent to Charles' tavern. He was Prince Edward County's first delegate to the prestigious Virginia House of Burgesses, in which he served from 1754 to 1761.
