Army Spc. Ernest W. Dallas, Jr. of Denton, Texas was a fun loving guy, who joined the Army in November 2003, as one step toward his dream of becoming a police officer. He went on so many police ride-a-longs growing up, that neighbors who saw him in police cars must have assumed he was always in trouble. He knew, though, you had to go to college to be a cop, so he went into the Army for money and experience. He was 21.
