Phillip Owen "Phil" Hicks, Sr., 80, an eight year resident of Odenton and previously of Crofton and Hyattsville, died February 3, 2015 at University of Maryland Medical Center. Born in Washington, DC on November 6, 1934, Phil was a 1952 graduate of Gonzaga College High School in Washington. He served in the US Army from 1957-59. He was a sales manager for D & H Distributing Company and later for the Sony Corporation. A member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Crofton, he served for 10 years as the president of Seton Woods Community Association. Phil was an avid golfer and collector of cars (52 of them) and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Marie Hicks, whom he married June 9, 1956; his son Phillip (Mary Helen) Hicks, Jr. of Severna Park; his daughter Linda (Jim) Dingus of Richmond, VA; his sister, Judy Crispell of Odenton; and his grandchildren, Rebecca Dingus, Matthew Dingus and Kelsie Hicks. Phil was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Dean Hicks, and his granddaughter, Lindsey Dingus. -
