CHAS. KUSSMAN IS TAKEN
Heart Attack on the Job Fatal- He was 53.
Charles A. Kussman state highway maintenance foreman who had worked out of Seneca and made it his home the past 15 years, died Monday afternoon at 1:30 on the job, while he was at work west of Baileyville.

Death was from a heart attack. Charlie had been ill before, but had improved and had returned to work about a month ago. He would have been 53 years of age November 22.

The service is being held this Thursday afternoon at the Masonic Temple, Seneca, conducted by rev. A. Waldo Crippen. Burial will be in the Seneca cemetery. The Thornvburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, and Seneca Lodge No. 39 of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons will have charge of the services.

Charles Kussman, was in many ways the honest, friendly workman, the good family man and neighbor, the man you could count on when you needed help, with which America is blessed. But more than that he was a highly conscientious worker. He wanted his job done the best it was possible for him to do it. He found pleasure in the work of the Masonic lodge, and again, in it he strove for perfection.

He was the kind of a neighbor who will be missed all through his community, because the children spotted him as their friend.

He was born at Summerfield, Kansas, November 22, 1904, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kussman. His mother is deceased and his father lives in Burchard, Nebraska.

He was married on April 30, 1927 to Jessie Usher, at Seneca. She survives, and their four children, all in homes of their own. Alvin F. Kussman and Marvin D. Kussman of Seneca; Mrs. Irene Aden of Lincoln, Nebr.; and Mrs. Mary Ann Haugsness of Chanute, Kansas. He leaves also eight grandchildren, a special joy to him.

There are six sisters, Mrs. Isabel Montague of Loma, Colorado; Mrs. Stella Terrill of Pawnee City, Nebr.; Mrs. Sylvina Brock of Lincoln, and Mrs. Leola Brock, Mrs. Dorothy Malone and Mrs. Loretta Jolly of Independence, Kansas; and one brother, Francis Kussman of St. Joseph, Mo.

Before the family came to Seneca, Mr. Kussman was in railroad work and township work.

He was a member of Seneca Chapter No. 32 of Royal Arch Masons, and Lodge No. 39 A.F.& A.M. He had gone through the chairs in serving in various offices and Master of Seneca Lodge in 1954.
