Daniel Joseph Hanley, Sr., 75, died peacefully at his home in Pensacola, FL on Wednesday, February 4, 2015.

He was born on April 3, 1939 in Queens, New York, NY. He graduated from Marist College with a BS in Math in 1961. As a Marist Brother, he taught math from 1961 to 1962.

He served 21 years in the US Air Force where he was a Missile Launch Control Officer for Atlas D and Thor Burner I; an Electronic Warfare Officer in F-105F and F-4C (Wild Weasel, YGBSM) and Instructor Weapons System Officer in F-4E. In 1974, he graduated from William and Mary College with an MS, Ed. He retired in 1983 with the rank of Major. From 1983 through 2006, he worked as a computer software and training developer. He pursued lifelong learning.

Following his passion, he returned to teaching math and religion at St. Paul Catholic School in Pensacola, FL in 2006. “How happy would I be, if I could teach and devote my life to the education of children and young people” – St. Marcellin Champagnat.

Proceding him in death were his parents and a sister.

He is survived by wife, Patricia; children, Daniel Jr., Julie, Thomas, Paul, Luke and Teresa; along with nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be held, with a Rosary being prayed at 5pm, and continuing until 7pm, Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32504.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12pm (noon) Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3131 Hyde Park Rd., Pensacola, FL, 32503, celebrated by Fr. Doug Halsema. Burial with Air Force military honors will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic School Building Fund, 3121 Hyde Park Rd., Pensacola, FL 32503.
