Gerald "Jerry" N. McKinney, age 75 of Arendtsville, was peacefully returned to the loving arms of his Lord and his parents, Nelson G. and Laura T. McKinney (formerly of Aspers), on Sunday, February 8, 2015 following an extended battle with a debilitating illness. Jerry was born on August 29, 1939 at his grandmother's home in Gardners and he grew up in Aspers.

Jerry graduated from Biglerville High School in 1957. Following his graduation, he served in the United States Army Reserves, married, had two children and worked at Chronister's Beer Distributor in Gettysburg. In the 1960's, Jerry took a position with Sandoe's Fruit Market & Wholesale in Biglerville, where he served as a faithful and dedicated employee for over forty years. Concurrently, he operated his own Christmas tree business, in Aspers, from which he supplied countless Christmas trees to the Biglerville Fire Company for their fundraising purposes, for many years. Jerry enjoyed many hobbies, which included bowling, cutting firewood, collecting baseball cards and coins and fishing. His great passion, besides his family, was deer hunting and spending time in the great outdoors, especially at his beloved Tumbling Run Game Preserve of which he has been a member since 1974. He was an ardent member of the National Rifle Association. Most significantly, Jerry was a generous and devoted son, brother, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly McKinney of Camp Hill, his son, Douglas McKinney and wife Stephanie, brother and sister-in-law, Owen and Mary McKinney of Bendersville and his most precious legacy, his three grandchildren, Meghan McKinney, Colton McKinney and Carter McKinney, all of Biglerville.

Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 21 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 25 Franklin Street, Biglerville with Reverend Marjorie Lauver officiating.
