Carroll Daily Times Herald - September 15, 1959:
Death came at 9:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14 to Mrs. Olive M. Butrick, 83, of Glidden, at Friendship Home in Audubon. She had been in ill health for the past 15 years, and died as a result of complications.
Services will be at the Huffman Funeral Home in Glidden at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. C. P. Hughes, minister of the Glidden Methodist Church, will have charge of the rites. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Butrick, a lifelong resident of Glidden, was born Oct. 22, 1873. Her maiden name was Olive Spurgeon. On March 7, 1888, she married James Butrick. For many years Mrs. Butrick was a school teacher. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors are her daughter, Mrs. Florence Sherfield, Glidden: two grandchildren, Mrs. Bruce (Ann) Johnson, Chula Vista, Calif., and Mrs. Lloyd (Evelyn) Everett, Dayton, Ohio; four great-grandchildren; one half-sister, nieces and nephews.
A son, Clifford, died in infancy; and a daughter, Mrs. K. C. (Lola) Satterfield, died Jan. 12, 1953. Two brothers, Harvey and Ivan Spurgeon, also preceded her in death.
