James was born on St. Patrick's Day 1923 in Harvard, Nebraska, the youngest of seven siblings. James graduated from Harvard High School in 1941, where he was a multi-sport star athlete and four year letterman. He served his country proudly during World War II and at the end of his term, relocated to Venice, CA. He was hired by the Coca Cola Bottling Co. and served faithfully for forty-two years as one of the company's top salesmen.
He married the love of his life Lily Marie Sheppard and had three boys Timothy James, Patrick Kelly, and Michael Shaun. James and Lily were accomplished ballroom dancers, but nothing made them happier than attending their sons' athletic events, which later translated into attending their grandchildren's events as well. His loving wife Lily preceded James in death in 1994. He was an inspiration with his athletic abilities and hard work ethic.
James is survived by sons, Timothy, Patrick, and Michael; daughters-in-law, Audrey, Gabriela, and Elaine; grandsons, Todd, Shaun, Shannon, and Logan; granddaughter, Kelley; and countless others whom he touched throughout his long life. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held at Little Chapel of the Dawn in Santa Monica, on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
