A life well lived is a precious gift, of hope and strength and grace, from someone who has made our world a brighter, better place.
Helen J. Grier, 107, of Waverly, N.Y., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017 at the Elderwood Nursing Facility, Waverly.
Helen was born on May 29, 1909 in Vestal, N.Y., one of four children to the late John and Edna (Cornell) Kimball. On Aug. 14, 1928, she married Earl E. Grier and together they celebrated 57 years of marriage until his passing in 1985. Helen treasured her family and always enjoyed sharing her stories and making canvas crafts. On May 29, 2015 - Helen's 106th birthday - the Town of Barton recognized her and it was noted to be "Helen Grier Day." Her smile and caring ways will be remembered by so many.

Helen will be greatly missed by her son Earl "Dick" L. Grier, son-in-law Marshall "Butch" Robinson, both of Waverly; her six grandchildren, Kenneth (Lauri) Grier, Bruce Grier, Carol VanWormer, Richard (Joann) Grier, Cathy Corby and Mark Robinson. Eleven great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and their families also survive.

Helen was welcomed into heaven by her husband Earl; her daughter Barbara (died in 1932); her daughter Delores Robinson (died in 2003); and siblings Sheldon Kimball, Mabel Howard and Cecile Benjamin.

Abiding with Helen's wishes, a graveside service will be held at Tioga Point Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
