Ross A. White of Clarksburg departed this life Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at his residence.

He was born March 22, 1933, in Clarksburg, the son of the late Roscoe R. White and Mabel Virginia Mick White.

His wife, Murma J. Day White, whom he married December 10, 1955, survives.

Along with being a dedicated husband and father, Mr. White as the founder of PDQ Print Shop in Clarksburg, beginning in 1977 and it's still in operation today.

Mr. White is survived by two sons, Ross Allen White, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Bristol, and William Perry White and his wife Esmeralda of Taylorsville, North Carolina. His beloved grandchildren, Brandi Nicole Mines and her husband C.J. and Samantha Joell White; his great-granddaughter, Isabelle Mines; his brother, James E. White; and three nieces and one nephew.

Ross was a graduate of Washington Irving High School, having been president of his class. He then went on to graduate from Tri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also did some graduate work at The Ohio State University. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served his court proudly during the Korean Conflict. In addition to the PDQ print shop, he was also the former owner of Ace Adjustment Service.

As a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Ross endeavored to instill his true passion for aviation in young people. Ross helped organize free airplane rides for over 100 youths as part of the EAA "Young Eagle" program. In addition to this, Ross helped arrange and escort many Civil Air Patrol cadets to the annual Oshkosh, Wisconsin Air Show and Fly-in, where these young enthusiasts were exposed to many aspects of aviation.

He was affiliated with other various organizations, including the Civil Air Patrol, where he served as Commander of the Clarksburg Wing, past president of the Clarksburg Kiwanis, past president of the Hitch and Twirl Camping Square Dance Club and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarksburg.

Ross always loved a challenge. He was never satisfied to just make do, but strived to make each project special, fun and exciting for everyone. He never measured his own success by wealth or comfort, but by the lives he touched along the way. He was someone who could always be depended upon to take any task and do it well. Many lives were touched by Ross and he will be greatly missed.

Family and friends will be received at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison St., Nutter Fort on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. with the Civil Air Patrol Cadets standing guard. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Pam Everitt presiding. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ross' memory to the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center at WVU to support leukemia research at WVU Foundation-MBRCC,P.O. Box 1650 , Morgantown, W. A direct descendant (by marriage lines) of the first baby born on the Mayflower, Peregrine White. (Later has been proven by the Mayflower society that there is a DNA problem with this line...Alexander White Sr.'s father was not the predicted Jonathan White, son of Peregrine White).

His father Roscoe White wrote a book about the descendants of Peregrine White.
