Alice M. Pasch, age 87, longtime resident of the Osakis area passed away quietly on Wednesday, September 14, 1983 at the Osakis Community Memorial Home.
Alice M. Collins was born on August 16, 1896 to Thomas and Katherine Collins in Belle River, Minnesota. On February 11, 1920, Alice was united in marriage to Christian Pasch at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River. Chris and Alice spent the first three years of marriage together on their farm in Leslie Township until they moved to Minneapolis in December of 1922. It was here that Alice became one of the first employees hired by the newly formed Mars Candy Company. She spent five years working in Minneapolis until 1929 when they moved to Chicago and she became the Head Floor Supervisor for the Mars Company in Chicago. Despite their move, the Pasch's never lost their attachment to their home and often returned to a cabin they had at Buck Point Lodge on Lake Osakis. When they retired and moved back to Osakis, they bought and operated Buck Point for two years until ill health forced them to sell and move into a home in town. They raised two daughters, Patricia and Beverly, and then Alice went to work at Dick's Super Outlet for four years full time in Alexandria and three years part time in Osakis. She was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers Confraternity, St. Margaret's Mission Group and the Legion Auxiliary. In 1972 due to illness the Pasch's sold their home and moved into the Memorial Home until their death.
Alice is survived by her daughters, Mrs. James (Patricia) Breyman of Santa Barbara, California and Mrs. Paul (Beverly) Infield of Sugar Creek, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, James, Michael and Roy Collins; 1 sister Mrs. Winnie Housen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris; her parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and one grandson.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis with Father Joseph Fridgen officiating. Interment was at the Calvary Cemetery in Osakis. Pallbearers were Gary and Dave Collins, Darwin Hetland, Bud Hedlund, Clyde Collins and Thomas Housen, all nephews of Alice. Arrangements were handled by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis
