She was born and raised in Austin, Minn., she was a daughter of the late Ellery and Phoebe Diedrich Barker.
Mrs. Tate graduated from Austin High School and attended Mankato State Teachers College. Mrs. Tate devoted a lot of her time doing volunteer work in military and civilian hospitals. Her last volunteering was in Aiken Regional Medical Centers. She loved the military life and accepted the many moves and separations.
In her spare time she loved to travel. She was a loving and devoted wife who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Col. (Ret.) Lester K. Tate of Aiken and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be held at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.
