Evelyn May Miller
Date of Birth ~ April 24, 1936
Date of Death ~ March 9, 2022
Evelyn M. Miller passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at the age of 85. She was greeted in Heaven by her loving husband, Karl E Miller, grand-daughter, Brandy Alexis Miller and many family members and friends. "Ev" was a wonderful mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and friend. She is so very missed by her children Karla (Dean) Lederhaus, Kurtis (Karen) Miller, Kyle (Linda) Miller and Krystal (Tom Preston) Miller, grandchildren, Kathleen (Joe) Ramirez, Eric Miller, Scott Miller, Kristopher Miller, Kari Miller, Sydnie Miller, and Michael Miller. She is also survived by her sister Sharon (Jim) Kamp and brothers, Roger Reed, and James (Brenda) Johnson.
Ev grew up in the small town of Morrison, IA and relocated to Freeport, IL, where she met Karl in 1954. The high school sweethearts married in 1959 and were happily married for 54 years. Ev wore many hats during her lifetime: stay-at-home mom, nursing home activity director, resort owner, constant volunteer, and baker, extraordinaire. The grandkids were never disappointed when they came to visit, as there were ALWAYS freshly baked cookies. Her chocolate chip cookies will be especially missed!
In the late 80's Ev and Karl purchased a small resort on Deer Lake in Three Lakes, WI., and in 1992 they "retired" and moved to Three Lakes full-time. Ev loved the Three Lakes community and was a member of Three Lakes Women's Club and was a co-winner of their Women of the Year award, of which she was very proud. She volunteered for numerous events and served soup for many years at Three Lakes Pumpkin Fest. She was a much loved and active member of Grace Lutheran Church and was very close to her church family. Ev spent 6 months each year in Bullhead City, AZ enjoying the weather, the activities and all the wonderful friends she met there. She was sad to sell her home in 2018, but she said it was time. She lived for many years at The Northernaire Resort and Condos until moving to Milestone Assisted Living, Eagle River, WI in 2019.
As was her wish, Ev's family will be having a small graveside service this summer in Freeport, IL, where her ashes will be interred next to Karl's. Her family is grateful to all of Ev's friends and family for their loving support and condolences, as well as the staff at Milestone Assisted Living for their excellent care.
