PORTAL, Ga. - Mrs. Bonnie Collins Hendrix, age 75, died Wednesday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. She was the daughter of the late Johnny and Maxie Collins.

The Bulloch County native lived in Potwin, Kan., for 10 years before returning to Bulloch County in 1991. She was a retired seamstress, working with Rowden Wear, Cari Classics and Pride Manufacturing for many years. Mrs. Hendrix was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Calvin C. "Cap" Hendrix.

Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Bonnette Chavez of Portal, Debra and Stan Harris of Portal, Wanda and Wayne Stewart of Statesboro and Scarlet and Virgil Driggers of Statesboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Lee Hendrix of El Dorado, Kan., and Johnny and Patsy Hendrix of Twin City; her "adopted" daughter, Sue Starling of Statesboro; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, a brother, Doy Collins of Jonesboro; a sister, Dorothy Gay of Garfield; and two sisters-in-law, Sarah Joyce Kunkel of Tulsa, Okla., and Joette "Tiny" Lord of Statesboro.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

The graveside service and burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Hendrix Cemetery with Elder W.I. Tidwell officiating, assisted by the Rev. Kyle Oglesby and the Rev. Ray Jenkins.

Pallbearers will be Chad Hendrix, Calvin Hendrix, Bo Hendrix, Austin Stewart, Jeff Starling and Scott Lanier.

Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459.

Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of arrangements.
