Adeline DiPippa Benscoter, 90, of 16th Street, Berwick, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at Berwick Retirement Village II.

Born Aug. 8, 1924, in Berwick, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Maria (Gialanella) DiPippa.

A graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1942, she was the owner and operator of Adeline Benscoter’s Beauty Salon.

Addie was a devout member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she participated in the church choir for 50 years. She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling to Atlantic City, crocheting, cards, and spending Saturdays with her sister, Julie.

Adeline was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Joseph F. Benscoter, who died June 22, 1990; four brothers: Charles, Louis, Anthony “Shelly”, and John DiPippa; and two sisters: Lena McHenry and Liz Owens.

Surviving are her four daughters: Diane, wife of Albert West, of Berwick; Barbara, wife of Paul Snoddy, of Macungie; Jayne McCabe and her partner, Denise Tomsak, of Exeter; and Judy, wife of Joe Johnson, of Berwick; 10 grandchildren: Theodore West; Paula West Remley; Jennifer West Marshman; Albert West; Joel McCabe; Nicole Trapane; Kip McCabe; Matt McCabe; Sean Snoddy; and Grayson Johnson; and 13 great-grandchildren: Siena West; Mackenzie West; Addison Remley; Alexa Remley; Kenneth Marshman; Graham Marshman; Morgan West; Jenna West; Breann Shaffer; Brittani Shaffer; Max McCabe; Derrek McCabe; and Brady McCabe.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1730 Fowler Ave., Berwick, with the Rev. Francis J. Tamburro, her pastor, officiating as celebrant.

Interment will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
