Wayne E. Evans, 61, of Butler Avenue, Conyngham, passed away Saturday in Conyngham, where he resided his entire life.

Born in Conyngham, Aug. 1, 1949, he was a son of the late Sterling and Ruth Walp Evans. He was a 1967 graduate of West Hazleton High School and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Penn State University main campus.

He was a lifelong member of Christ Church, United Church of Christ, Conyngham.

Prior to his retirement, he was the chief chemical operator for National Starch & Chemical, Humboldt, for 17 years.

He was an accomplished musician who worked with various local bands before composing and recording his own music and lyrics. He also enjoyed gardening and reading.

Wayne is survived by his wife of the past 17 years, the former Jane Willard; a stepson, Jason Kline, Frackville; a brother, Blane and his wife, Ann, Conyngham; two nephews, Jason Evans and his wife, Amy, Freeland, and Steven Evans, Conyngham. Wayne also had one cherished granddaughter, Jacqueline Kline, Frackville; two great-nephews Caden and Zach Evans, Freeland; aunts and uncles.

His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Interment will follow in Conyngham Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
