Roy was born December 24, 1925, in DuQuoin, Illinois, the son of Roy E. and Ethel (Kirkpatrick) Allen, Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Army. During his working years, Roy was an industrial chemist, working for O'Brien Paint and Niles Chemical. His church membership was with Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University.
Survivors include a son, Stacey Kurt Allen of Ooltewah, Tennessee; three granddaughters, Jemi Seely of Wyoming, Michigan, Amanda Allen of Seattle, Washington, and Melissa Allen of Ooltewah; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nellie Robinson of Longmont, Colorado. In addition to his wife and son, Roy was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Hamel.
