Roy E. Allen, 87, a Berrien Springs resident for 67 years, died Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Standifer Place in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Friends are invited to call from 10:30 until 12 Noon on Tuesday, November 12, at the Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs. Immediately following will be a graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his wife, Ruth (Ferney) Allen, and his son, R. Robert Allen. Roy was born December 24, 1925, in DuQuoin, Illinois, the son of Roy E. and Ethel (Kirkpatrick) Allen, Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Army. During his working years, Roy was an industrial chemist, working for O'Brien Paint and Niles Chemical. His church membership was with Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University.

Survivors include a son, Stacey Kurt Allen of Ooltewah, Tennessee; three granddaughters, Jemi Seely of Wyoming, Michigan, Amanda Allen of Seattle, Washington, and Melissa Allen of Ooltewah; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nellie Robinson of Longmont, Colorado. In addition to his wife and son, Roy was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Hamel.
