She was born June 8, 1921 in Kentwood and was 93 years of age.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Kentwood. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her sweet and gentle spirit will be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her 4 children, Robert G. Grimes, Baton Rouge, C. E. "Rick" Turner and wife, Patricia Tolbird Turner, Baton Rouge, Kathryn Sandra Turner Travis and husband, Jerry W. Travis, Ponchatoula and Joseph Roy Turner and wife, Diane Ricks Turner, Tangipahoa; 7 grandchildren, Joseph W. Turner, Sr., Cindy Travis, Eric Turner and wife, Tammy, Dan Turner and wife, Angela, Don Turner, Ladd Turner and wife, Christy and Johnny Travis; 12 great grandchildren, Ashton Orlando, Joseph W. Turner, Jr., Travis Alford, John Tyler Travis, Alex Crump, Claire Turner, Cathrine Turner, Caroline Turner, Josh Turner, Chase West, Cheyenne West and Chloe Berberette; brother, Eric E. Strickland and wife, Maxine Walker Strickland, Kentwood; sister, Francis Inez Strickland, Hammond and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Turner; father, Eric Alwin Strickland; mother, Lona Loraine Varnado Strickland; brother, Irwin Alwin Strickland and sister, Kirby Urlene Strickland.
Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 5 PM until 8 PM on Friday and at First Baptist Church of Kentwood from 2 PM until Religious Services at 3 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2015. Services conducted by Rev. Joey Miller.
Interment Osyka Cemetery, Osyka, MS.
