MOTHER OF 2 PROVOANS DIES AT 87

The mother of two Provo residents died Sunday evening in Mesa, Arizona of causes incident to age. She was 87.

Marie Musig Barton was born February 21, 1883 at Funk's Lake, Sanpete County, a daughter Charles Ernst Christian and Emerett Funk Musig, She married Henry Lawrence Barton May 13 1908 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Prior to her marriage she taught school in Mt. Pleasant.

She was the author of "Our Promised Land," a collection of stories of the Book of Mormon for boys and girls. It was also made into pictograph and recordings. She has composed song and poetry also.

As an active LDS member, she served 35 as the literary leader in the North Sanpete Stake and Ward Relief Society. She served as a teacher in all of the auxillary organizations. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Survovors include two sons, Que D. Barton, Provo; Donald Lloyd Barton, Nephi; three daughters, Mrs. Waldo (Louise) LeSueur and Mrs. Carol Stradling, both of Mesa, Arizona and Mrs. Calvin (June) Bartholomew, Provo; 32 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in Mesa, Arizona Wednesday. Viewing will be held in Mt. Pleasant at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Jacob's Mortuary with graveside services at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
