Son of Moses Bearse. One of the first families to build a home in Hyannis. At age ten he went to live with his Uncle George Hinckley where he learned the carpentry trade. Through the years, Charles served as Postmaster of Cotuit, sherrif, on the Barnstable Board of Selectmen, Justice of the Peace for Barnstable County, was one of the Directors of Barnstable County Mutual Fire Insurance Company and the First National Bank of Hyannis. In 1889 Charles Bearse and 74 others petitioned Barnstable county that a road be laid out connecting Cotuit to Osterville which is now part of Route 28. He was the father of two daughters, Isabel T. and Nellie.
