John H. Baugh, 72, of Battle Ground, IN, passed away at home at 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Born June 28, 1942 in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Otis and Dorothy (Kutchera) Baugh. He was a 1960 graduate of Battle Ground High School. John honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1966 and was stationed at Ft. Knox, KY, Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, and the Pentagon.

John married Gail Hainje on September 8, 1979 in Lafayette and she survives. He was a mail handler for the U.S. Post Office for 30 years. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 492 and a former volunteer fireman for the Battle Ground Fire Department. He loved fishing on the Wabash River, mushroom hunting, and was an avid IU fan, especially when there was a Purdue fan around.

Surviving are his wife, a stepson, Mark Crowley (Jenni) of Noblesville, siblings, Mike Baugh of Marston Mills, MA, Marilyn Martin of Lafayette, and Diane Mansfield (Brad) of Brookston, two grandchildren, Mikayla and Maleah, several brother and sisters in law, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Richard "Rick" Baugh.

Visitation from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2015, with Poppy Service at 4:45 p.m., at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Monday with Chaplain Chuck Parker officiating. Burial to follow at Battle Ground Cemetery.
