(January 11, 1936 - February 4, 2015)

David Ray Bland, 79, of Barrackville, and formerly of Fairview, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born January 11, 1936, a son of the late Audra and Beatrice Hillberry Bland.

David was a carpenter, using his carpentry skills (that was so much a part of who he was) his whole life at church, work and for fun. He retired in July, 2014 from the Marion County Commission. He was a Christian and a member of the Monongah Baptist Church.

He and his wife loved their family and gave them so much to pass on to future generations. Survivors include his children and spouses: Diana and Roger Jarvis, Barrackville, Randy and Shelby Bland, Fairview, and Mitchell and Jaclyn Bland, Barrackville; 11 grandchildren: Tanya Rogers and husband Mike, Kristie Morris and husband Jason, Briana, Dakota, Isaac, Deja Jarvis, Whitney, Cody, Brooklynn, Marcus and Jaxson Bland; 4 great grandchildren: Mike and Tessa Rogers and Launa and Landin Morris; 2 sisters-in-law: Patty Bland and Loretta Freeman Brown, both of Farmington.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Carrie Lou Bland, on April 1, 2012; a brother: Jerry Bland; 2 brothers-in-law: Bob Mitchell and wife Amy, and Aubrey Freeman.

Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home, Farmington on Friday from 2-9 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with Pastor David Huckins officiating, assisted by Pastor Bob Barker. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Farmington.
