Daisy A. Palmer Thomas, 89, Middletown, died Tuesday February 3, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Clarence K. Thomas for 55 years.
Born in Chestnut Grove, Washington Co., MD on September 8, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Pearl Metz Holmes.

In her early years Daisy worked at various jobs in the Middletown area, including the Middletown AMVETS, the cafeteria of Middletown High School and finally retiring from the Hanover Shoe Co. when it closed. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and sewing. She was a wonderful quilter and quilted with the Zion quilters for many years. Her handiwork, most of which she gave away, became prized possessions to the people in her life that she loved. She was the happiest when the family got together for any event. Small in stature she could work rings around people younger than her. She and Clarence spent many weekends on their boat enjoying the Chesapeake Bay. They were active members of the Belvedere Yacht Club in Severna Park for more than 40 years.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving, besides her husband, are:
1 daughter - Wanda Brandenburg and husband Charles
1 son - Gary E. Palmer and wife Lauren
daughter-in-law- Sue Palmer

Grandchildren - Lee R. Palmer and wife Carrie, Terry Palmer and companion Elaine Dempster, Dale Palmer and companion Reese Mongeon, Stacey Owens and husband Jesse, Melissa Palmer and companion Donald Tiffany.

Great-Grandchildren - Trinity Owens, Carlee Owens, Brody Palmer, Bret Palmer and Camden McCall.

She was predeceased by her first husband Lee C. Palmer; one daughter Martha J. Palmer; one son Larry R. Palmer; brothers Preston Holmes and Gilbert Holmes; sisters Margaret Drury and Dorothy Routzahn; and was the last of her immediate family.
The family will receive friends on Friday February 6 from 6 to 8 PM at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Saturday February 7 from Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown. Rev. Cris Frigm will officiate. Interment will be made in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
