Frank was the son of Francis Kidney and Nancy M. Eaton. He married Hattie Kern on 19 Feb 1882 in Pawpaw, Lee, IL. They were the parents of Eula, Fredrick, and Guy.

July 16, 1925 - Carroll Times - Frank Kidney, 68 yandears old, retired Carroll county farmer, who has been making his home in Glidden for some time past, took his own life Wednesday morning, hanging himself in the garage at his home.

Mr. Kidney, according to testimony of his wife at the coroner's inquest, arose Wednesday morning at the usual hour, and as was his custom, left the house, saying he was going for a walk. When he did not return directly after 8 o'clock, she became uneasy and instituted a search for him.

Upon opening the garage she found the body of her husband suspended from a rafter in the roof. Giving the alarm neighbors rushed in, cut the body down, and notified the office of the sheriff. Sheriff Schmich went to Glidden immediately upon receiving the news, and there swore in Justice F.J. Rust, who, in the absence of the county coroner, conducted an inquest over the body. The jury soon reached the conclusion that Mr. Kidney's death was caused by an act of his own hands.

The deceased suffered a stroke some two years ago, since which time he has been in feeble health, and it is supposed that this was the cause of his rash act. He had carefully planned the hanging, fastening a chain about one of the rafters in the garage and then passing a half-inch rope through the chain. He then securely fastened one end of the rope to the chain and an adjoining rafter and the other about his neck and stepped from the ladder on which he was standing. His death was due to strangulation, as his neck was not broken.
