Lucinda Jane Conner, daughter of Johnathan and Mary Jane Conner, was born Nov. 12, 1867 in Monroe county, Ohio, and passed away early in the morning of Jan. 20, 1955, at the Burwell hospital, having attained the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 8 days.
Her early life was spent in Ohio, where she grew to womanhood. In the spring of 1888, she, with her parents, sister Sadie, brother Richard, and his four motherless children, came to Nebraska and settled in Garfield County which has been her home continously since then. She lived first on a farm, and 33 years ago, with her sister and her brother, she moved to Burwell.
Her mother and father and five brothers preceded her in death, and the last few years she and her sister have made their home with their nephew, Johnathan Conner.
She was a womand of sterling character, having been converted at the age of 9 years and remaining faithful to her Lord until the end. She was a long time member of the Methodist Church.
She leaves to mourn her passing, one brother, George; her only sister Sadie; and her nephews, Johnathan and Thomas Conner, whom she helped raise after their mother's death, and a large number of other nephews and nieces, and a host of fiends by whom she will be sadly missed.
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints, for they rest from their labors- their works follow them- Psalms 116:15
Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church, in Burwell, Monday, January 24th, with the Rev. A.J. Hindmand in charge. Pallbeareres were George Davis, Clarence White, Dermot Erington, Harry Williams, Alfred Craichy and Clair Bebee. Internment was made in the Burwell cemetery.
