She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on February 2, 2015.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William Wilson "Bill" Bartlett; daughter Patricia Bartlett Whitaker; grandson Kevin Whitaker; brothers William Tillman, Leon Tillman, Joe Tillman, and Frank Tillman; and sisters Julia Britain, Betty Woodfin, and Gladys Mathews.
She is survived by her sister Naomi Scott; son Bo Bartlett and daughter-in-law Kit Bartlett; grandson Will Bartlett; granddaughter Katie Bartlett Osborne and her husband John Osborne; 1 great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
In her younger years, Marie was an avid bridge player at Riverbend Country Club and continued playing at The Connection Center at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, and with groups of friends.
At home, she enjoyed needlepoint, gardening, and most of all, spending time with her family.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and "Meemaw." Petite in stature, but not in spirit, she was a joy to be around.
The family would like to thank friends of 58 years, Eliza Trimmer; Lori Heard; and Dewana Roy for their excellent and compassionate care.
In lieu of usual remembrances, donations may be made to Memorial Drive United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held Friday, February 6, 2015, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, at 3:30 p.m.
