Mary Anne Hogg, 82, died February 4, 2015. mary Anne (Hardy) Hogg was born in Miller County, Georgia in 1933; daughter of the late John Lanier and Mary Hardy. She grew up on part of her Great Grandparents farm that they purchased in 1859 for 50 cents an acre on Old Damascus Road. She never forgot Miller County – especially her 1952 Miller County classmates. Mary Anne always enjoyed attending her class reunion every year. She wrote two books on her precious memories during life – including her country life in Miller County. You can say she was a people person, sentimental and loved and enjoyed others, so she wrote those books to share her memories with her grandchildren. And, she chose Miller County as her final resting place by her Mom and Dad in Colquitt Cemetery.

After finishing high school, she graduated from Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Georgia, majored in Elementary Education, which was a two year college at that time. She received her BS Degree from Valdosta State University. Since her husband, Ernest Malcolm Hogg, made a career in the Air Force, she taught school in Florida, New Jersey, Georgia, Mississippi and South Carolina.
Being a productive, compassionate people person, she volunteered at Christian City Convalescent Home and also delivered Meals on Wheels for eight years in Fayette County. Mary Anne loved the Lord, her church, family and her many friends. She was an active member of Briarwood Baptist Church in Watkinsville. Also, she enjoyed genealogy, needle work, antiquing and being with her son and family.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest Malcolm Hogg; son and daughter in law, Dale and Mindy; three grandchildren, Alyx, Caitlyn and Sean; sisters, Nina Wilson of Montgomery, AL; Duane Nance and Jennie Jensen, both of Augusta, GA. She was preceded in death by her Mom and Dad, John Lanier and Mary S. Hardy; and one brother, John Jabez Hardy. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feburary 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Briarwood Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Standard and Rev. Dan Fuller officiating. Interment will follow on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Colquitt City Cemetery, Colquitt, GA. Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
