Laura "Eileen" Bowerman, 72, of Halsey, died March 11 at Albany Care Center.
She was born in Brookside, Mont. and moved to the Newport area in 1929, living there and in Siletz. She moved to Albany in 1964 and to Halsey in 1973, when she retired.
She married Wilbur Looney on December 23, 1937, in Vancouver, WA. He died in November 1955. She married John Bowerman June 13, 1966 in Lebanon. He died in November 1988.
Mrs. Bowerman worked in food service in nursing homes in Newport and Albany. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and entertaining.
She is survived by daughters Shirley Ann Carpenter of Missoula, Mont., and Patti Goodaell of Mill City; brother Leon Olson of Jefferson; sisters Marien Wells of Springfield, Maxine Mark of Oregon City, Ruth Burch of Ocean Park, Wa. Ila Nicherson of Eastside, OR. and Ina Taft of Yelm, WA.; step-daughters Sue Thompson of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Shelia Ranali of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren as well as son William "Jake" Looney of Halsey.
Daughter Evelyn Looney, son John Looney, two brothers and two sisters died before her.
Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 at Fisher Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., March 20 at Central Valley Church, Halsey.
