EDWARD WHITNEY
Edward Whitney died at his home in Sanitarium addition in this city, Tuesday, August 17. He was stricken with apoplexy Tuesday morning and death resulted in a few hours.
Mr. Whitney was born in Genesee County, New York, August 7, 1829. He was married at Iola Kansas on July 6, 1865 to Miss Katherine Ann Prue. They came to Montgomery County in 1870 and resided on a farm for sometime when he removed to his present home.
He is survived by his wife and six children. The children are Mrs. Edna K. Robertson and Clinton A. Whintey of Hastings, Nebraska, Guy O. of Coon Rapids, Iowa, Joseph L. of Cherokee, Oklahoma, Rollin E. of Red Oak, and Wilson W., whose late address is not known. The children from a distance came to attend the funeral except the last named.
Mr Whitney was a veteran of the Civil War. he enlisted in the 52nd Illinois Regiment and served 3 years and 6 months.
The funeral was held from the home Thursday afternoon at 2:30 and was conduced by Rev. Silas Cooke. Interment was in the Red Oak Cemetery. The pall bearers were old comrades of the deceased.
