S. B. Moore.

Samuel Berry Moore, passed away at his home five miles northeast of LaHarpe, at 6:30 o'clock, last Tuesday evening March 9, 1909, aged 44 years, 1 month and 24 days.

Sam had been a sufferer from bloodpoisoing [sic] for several weeks prior to his death and was in a serious condition at all times during the progress of the disease but the day of his death on which the last issue of The Quill was published he seemed better than he had been for some time before and the announcement of his death was not expected by us. Before his last illness he was a strong robust man which makes his death all the more deplorable. Sam was born in this vicinity January 13, 1865 and lived among us for the full term of his life. His parents were Samuel B. and Hannah Moore. He was married in 1880 [sic] to Miss Amanda Kraft and to them three children were born two of whom Earl and George survive him. Mr. Moore joined the Odd Fellows Lodge of this city Nov., 6, 1907 and was an honored member of that organization until his death. He was also a member of the M. W. A. lodge. He was a hard worker all his life, honest in every transaction and enjoyed the respect of all who knew him.

The funeral took place at the Christian church Thursday afternoon conducted by Elder L. G. Huff, after which the body was laid to rest in LaHarpe cemetery, the Odd Fellows having charge of the services at the grave.
