Catherine M. Shook, a church deaconess and a longtime nurse's aide in Ransomville and Newfane, died Thursday (Dec. 11, 1997) in InterCommunity Memorial Hospital, Newfane.

Mrs. Shook, 69, of Wilson-Cambria Road, was born Catherine Forsey in Plainsville, Pa.

She had worked as a nurse's aide at the former Ransomville General Hospital and then at Newfane's InterCommunity Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1990, after 35 years of service.

Mrs. Shook was a member of the Community Bible Church in Cambria, where she had been a treasurer and a deaconess.

She was also a member of the Wilson Historical Society, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Wilson Fire Company 1 and a member of the Christian Women's League.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, William C.; a son, William of Lockport; two daughters, Charlene Rohring of Ransomville and Nancy Tussing; six brothers, Jack Forsey of Pennsylvania, Richard Forsey of Exeter, Pa.; William Forsey of Cleveland, Thomas Forsey of Klamath Falls, Ore.; Stanley Forsey of Hanover, Pa., and Merritt Forsey of Plains, Pa.; three sisters, Carrie Fluigel of New York, Charlotte Corcoran of Exeter and Ellen Sindaco of Bear Creek, Pa.; and a grandson.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Community Bible Church, 4168 Church Road, Cambria.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Wilson.
