Funeral Services for Mr. Benny James Daniels, Jr. who passed on Saturday, January 31, 2015, will be 2pm, Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Lenorris Dixon, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5-8:30 PM, Friday, Feb. 6, at RJ Gainous Funeral Home and from 12:30 PM until service time at the church on Saturday.
Benny James, was born on May 19, 1944 in Dothan, AL to the late Bennie James Daniels, Sr. and Sarah Daniels. He was a 1963 graduate of Campbell High School. He furthered his education at D.B.C.C. where he studied and received a degree in Architecture. He later freelanced for businesses around town. Benny also served on the Ormond Bch Police Department in the 70's for several years & relocated to Utica, NY for 25 years; he returned after his mother became ill. Benny worked at Daytona State College as head custodian until his retirement. He loved talking on his CB Radio and was known as Q-Ball over the airways.
He leaves to cherish his memory, 7 sons: Benny Daniels, Shawn Lester, Dwayne Daniels, Tyrone Daniels & Dale Daniels, all of Daytona Bch, FL, Lional & Nathan Daniels, Nashville, TN; 6 daughters: Sara Jean Cooper, Debra Daniels, Daytona Bch, FL; Jacqueline Merritt-Butler (James), Kwanya Merritt, all of Palm Coast, FL; Mary Singleton (Jimmy), Ormond Bch, FL; Desiree Daniels, Nashville, TN; 45 Grands, 34 Great Grands; 2 Aunts: Merdine Howard (Willie), Daytona Bch, Doris Herron, Utica, NY; close cousins, Joann Turner, Kenneth & Edna Norton; and a host of cousins & friends. Benny will be missed by his friends at Krystal's & Krispy Cream Doughnuts. His laughter & smile will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
