Delores was born November 4, 1933 in Cumberland Co. to the late Eric and Bernetta Strickland. Delores was preceded in death by her husband Edmund Parker; brother, Angus Strickland and a sister, Wilma Webb.
Delores was a lifelong member of Harmony Baptist Church, where she was the choir and WMU director. She retired from Red Cap in 1996 with 36 years of service. She liked to bake and decorate cakes and quilt.
Delores is survived by 4 children, daughter, Gloria Faye Brown of Morganton, son, Sonny Brown and wife Judy of Carthage, daughter, Cindy Strickland and husband Clyde of Littleton and son, Nelson Parker and wife Bridget of Fuquay-Varina; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Ottis Strickland and wife Sarah of Bunnlevel; sister, Pat Temple and husband Gerald of Bunnlevel; 2 Sisters-in-law, Audrey Strickland of Bunnlevel and Edith Parker of Dunn; 2 step-sons, Norman Parker and wife Janice of Jacksonville, FL and Ronnie Parker and wife Gayle of Lake Placid, FL; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend Brenda Jones of Mamers.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home and other times at Nelson’s home.
In Lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Home Health and Hospice of Halifax; 220 Smith Church Road, Building C, Roanoke Rapids NC 27870.
