Clyde Grigsby Watson was born on March 7, 1926 in Williamson County, Tennessee, and he was the son of Clarence Washington Watson (14 May 1898–19 Apr 1941) and his wife Vivienne Blythe (Grigsby) Watson (1903–1976). {According to his World War II Draft Registration Card, he was born in Williamson County, Tennessee. Clyde's parents were married December 20, 1923 in Williamson County, and when his father Clarence died in 1941, he was initially buried in Watson Cemetery in Rutherford County, Tennessee. However, after his widow Vivienne died in 1976 and was buried in Williamson Memorial Gardens in Franklin, Williamson County, the body of Clarence was exhumed and reburied near his wife in Williamson County.}


Clyde was married as the 2nd husband of Margaret Rebecca (Woodard) Wooten (1928–2019), the daughter of Albert Alford Woodard (1905–1974) and Minnie Mai (Duke) Woodard (1907–1997).


A resident of Donelson, Davidson County, Tennessee, he died February 2, 2015 at the age of 88.


Preceded in death by his son Mike, step-son Rocky and by his brothers Robert Austin Watson, Clarence Watson, Thurman Watson, Ralph Watson and Charles Watson, he was survived by his widow, three married daughters, a married son, married stepson, stepdaughter and three sisters.


Funeral Services were held at Woodbine Funeral Home on Nolensville Road, and burial was in Hermitage Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
