Ronald "Ron" T. Lyons passed away peacefully from Parkinson's disease on Friday (Jan. 30, 2015) surrounded by family at Heritage Health in Normal.

Ron was born Jan. 23, 1933 in Onarga to Milo "Bud" and Lorene Lyons. He married the light of his life, Dorothy Burns on July 4, 1953.

He is survived by his wife; two children, Becky (Steve) Armstrong and Randy (Stephanie) Lyons; four grandchildren; his son-in-heart nephew, Don (Debbie) Burns; a brother, Bob (Joyce) Lyons; a sister, Karen Winters and many nieces and nephews.

He will be welcomed in heaven by his parents; his in-laws, Charles and Mabel Burns; his brother- and sister-in-law, Harold and Leona Burns and brother-in-law, Joe Winters.

Upon returning from Okinawa, Japan, where he served 18 months in the U.S. Army, Ron led a full and happy life. He was an employee of GE from 1955 to 1989, where he was respected and admired by those he supervised. He served his community as a Webelo leader and through various positions at Trinity Lutheran and later Christ Lutheran Church. He was a commander of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Bloomington Normal American Legion 635.
