Lareda "Rita" Jamison, 72, of Portsmouth died Monday, May 4, 1998, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 16, 1927, in Kentucky to the late Farris and Goldie Stevenson Abdon. She was a retired nurse home aide from Edgewood Manor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Jamison, in August 1990; a son, Roger D. Walker; brothers, Jennings Abdon and Russell Abdon; a sister, Juanita Jamison; and great-granddaughter, Jessica Lawless.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen C. and Donna Walker of Akron; a daughter-in-law, Karlene Walker, whom she made her residence with; four stepsons, John Jamison Jr. of Dayton, Sonny Jamison of North Carolina, Lowell Jamison of Colorado and Donald Jamison of McDermott; one stepdaughter, Lareda Barnett of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren, Tressy Detore and Roger A Walker, Andrea Patton and Rachel Walker, all of Akron, Lisa (Walker) Journey of West Portsmouth, Amy Walker of Piqua, Michael Walker of North Carolina and Kristi Hebert of Texas; 13 step-grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Pennington-Bishop Funeral Home in New Boston, with the Rev. Alfred Havens officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
