BURLINGTON - Lee Anson Miner, 86, passed away peacefully in the Converse Home in Burlington on January 29th 2015.

Lee was the third of five children born to Chester and Dorothy (Hunt) Miner of Bristol, on July 9th 1928.

He was predeceased by sisters, Mary (Miner) Mattord (2002), and Marguerite (Miner) Fox (1989).

At age 16, and too young to join the Navy at the height of W.W.II, Lee finagled his way into the Merchant Marines and took to the high seas working on a fuel tanker delivering supplies to US troops. He then returned home to graduate from high school in 1946.

In 1948, he began work at Blodgett Oven Co. in Burlington, where he started out building crates for the ovens, and eventually worked his way up to Accounting Manager and Asst. Treasurer, the position from which he eventually retired.

In 1948, he married Norma Dwyer (2009). Between them, they had six children that they raised in the center of Hinesburg.

For many years, he was an active member of the Hinesburg Volunteer Fire Dept., the Hinesburg Select Board, and the Masonic Temple (which he helped to build).

He was also a longstanding Scoutmaster for the local Boy Scout troop for many years. Lee enjoyed hunting, and for many years was an avid golfer and charter member at the Rocky Ridge Golf Course in St. George.

In 2000, he moved to Venice, Fla., where he could maintain the active lifestyle he enjoyed. He was a volunteer at the Chamber of Commerce and served on the stage crew for The Little Venice Theater. He also became quite accomplished at building and refinishing beautiful furniture.

When his memory started to fail him, he moved back to Vermont, where he lived at Pillsbury Manner and then eventually transitioned to the Converse Home, where he lived out his last years.
