Richard L. Manley, Sr.

Age 69, of North Canton, passed away Monday, Jan. 5, 2015. He was born in Canton, a son of the late Donald and Betty (Ault) Shilling, and was a life resident of this area. Richard was a 1963 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. He retired in 2008 from Republic Steel Corp., after 44 years service, where he was a crane operator. Richard was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God, where he was very involved as an usher and lead singer for the Praise and Worship Service. He was a professional country & western singer for the Blaze of Glory and Destiny Bands. Richard was an avid fisherman and NASCAR fan. He also was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Bob and Mark Shilling, and Betty Ann Bailes and Linda Johnson. Survived by his wife, Judith S. Manley, with whom he celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Feb. 21, 2014; one daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Jay Thornton, of Uniontown; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Jennifer Manley, Jr., of Beaufort, SC, Troy and Laurie Manley, of North Canton, and Jeffrey and Heather Manley, of Norton; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald “BoBo” and Virginia Shilling, of Massillon; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor Jeffrey M. Deem officiating. Interment in Warstler Cemetery.
