Before he finished school, he was called home because his father's health was failing. His father, James Barton Hill, died April 11th, 1892, just a month before Henry's 1st wife, Lura Henry, died in May 1892.
"While Henry B. Hill was in California, he spent time in the town of Maxwell, which was in the Gold country. He may have been visiting his Uncle Archibald Hill who remained in California after going there to search for gold in 1849 or 1850. Another uncle, Mark Hubbard, also lived in California.
"Henry died at his home on November 30th, 1913. He was taking a bath before dinner, and he warmed the bathroom with a new gas heater, but kept the window closed. He died of carbon monoxide poisoning from the unventilated gas heater. He was buried in Union Ridge Cemetery on Higgins Ave, Norwood Park (Near O'Hare Airport) in Chicago, Illinois.

"His 2nd marriage was to Clara May Bishop, daughter of John Bishop and Naomi Correll Bishop, September 17th, 1892 in Licking Township, Crawford County, Illinois. The couple had two children. Eva May Hill was born in Annapolis, Crawford County, Illinois, February 4th, 1894. Then Henry and Clara moved to Jefferson Park, Chicago, Illinois, where their son, Major Hill, was born February 10th 1896. The marriage ended in divorce.
"Henry married a 3rd time Bell Van Alstyne on March 4th, 1903 in Chicago, Illinois. They had one child, a son named Thomas Barton Hill, who was born April 23rd, 1907, in Chicago, Illinois.
He died 30 Nov 1913 of carbon monoxide poisoning from an unvented heater and was buried in Union Ridge Cemetery - Chicago Death Record”
